A global banking business with ambitions to grow is hiring a senior Counterparty Credit Risk professional into an influential, high-visibility role focused on fund counterparties. This is not a “heads down” position; you will be expected to connect the dots across counterparty fundamentals and product-driven risk, and confidently challenge and shape decision-making.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide senior counterparty credit risk oversight across hedge fund exposures, with broader coverage across private capital (including private equity/private capital fund structures).
- Develop a clear view of counterparty credit profiles (including leverage and structural considerations) and articulate the key risk drivers.
- Bring a working understanding of capital markets products used with fund clients (not highly exotic), using that knowledge to ask the right questions and evaluate risk appropriately.
- Identify and assess tail risks: what could trigger a tail event, how it could transmit through a portfolio, and the potential impact on a fund’s credit profile.
- Influence direction and outcomes within the counterparty credit framework, supporting the ongoing maturity of the platform (moving beyond remediation/build-out).
- Partner with senior stakeholders across the wider credit and counterparty organisation, working alongside specialist teams (e.g., analytics and product-aligned experts) to form an integrated risk view.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong counterparty credit risk experience with hedge funds, plus familiarity with private capital and how these firms/funds are structured.
- Enough capital markets product understanding to engage credibly on risk implications and challenge assumptions (deep exotic options expertise not required).
- A confident risk “opiner” who can connect fundamentals and markets, and operate effectively in an influencing capacity.
If you’d like to be considered, apply via LinkedIn with your CV/profile and a brief note outlining your hedge fund and private capital exposure.
