I'm hiring a Credit Manager for a well-established development finance institution in London. They provide credit enhancement and local currency solutions that unlock private capital for infrastructure in frontier markets across Africa and Asia.
Read this bit first. This role lives or dies on South Asian market knowledge. My client needs someone who has genuinely underwritten project and infrastructure finance transactions in India and the wider South Asia region β who understands the sponsors, the regulatory environment, the offtake and construction risk profile, and what actually goes wrong in these deals. Broad emerging markets exposure without real India / South Asia depth won't get through the process.
The role
You'll sit in the second line within a small, internationally distributed credit team, reporting into a Credit Associate Director. Day to day you'll be:
- Underwriting new credit applications across project finance, structured facilities and corporate / FI lending
- Writing independent credit notes β key risks, mitigants, a clear recommendation β and defending them at credit and portfolio committee
- Interrogating financial models and meeting counterparties directly
- Monitoring the existing book, spotting early warning indicators before they become problems
- Feeding into credit policy and the ECL / PD / LGD models used for decisioning and IFRS 9
- Coaching the investment team on credit fundamentals in emerging markets
There's travel attached β this is a role where you go and see the assets.
What you'll need
- Credit risk experience across structured / project finance, corporate lending and FI facilities
- Demonstrable India and South Asia infrastructure or project finance track record
- Comfort with transaction legal documentation
- The credibility to constructively challenge an investment team and be listened to
- Familiarity with ECA, DFI, multilateral or monoline guarantee products is a real plus
Visa and location β please read before applying
My client will consider sponsoring a Skilled Worker visa, but only for candidates who are already living in the UK. They will not sponsor or support anyone relocating to the UK from overseas, including candidates currently based in India, the Gulf, Singapore or elsewhere in Asia. If you are not already in the UK, this role unfortunately isn't one I can progress you for.
The role is based in London.

Send your CV to or message me directly. Happy to have an off-the-record conversation if you're just curious about the market, and I can share the full brief and client name under confidence.
