    The Role

    This is a unique opportunity for a driven Operational Risk Manager to join the second line of defence at an early stage and help build the risk function. You’ll work directly with senior leadership—including the CRO—in shaping and embedding the operational risk framework. The environment is dynamic, entrepreneurial, and collaborative, with clear pathways to progress into a future Head of Operational Risk role.

    Key Tasks

  • Design and implement key operational risk frameworks and controls from a clean slate.
  • Lead workstreams on KRIs, risk registers, incident/event logging, and remediation tracking.
  • Partner with business leads across the first line to advise on controls and monitor risk exposures.
  • Provide informed challenge and help define risk appetite across operational domains.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and metrics for leadership and regulatory purposes.
  • Contribute to the broader build-out of governance and risk infrastructure across the firm.
  • Experience Required

  • 5–8 years of operational risk experience, ideally in a second-line capacity.
  • Background in prime brokerage or capital markets strongly preferred.
  • Experience gained in SMEs or scale-ups advantageous—broad perspective and flexibility valued.
  • Familiarity with FCA-regulated environments and risk governance standards.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and shape a maturing risk culture.
  • A self-starter, proactive mindset, and readiness to roll up your sleeves.
