A leading UK financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to join its established second-line compliance function. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, this is a senior leadership role with responsibility for overseeing both Compliance Advisory and Compliance Monitoring activities across a broad consumer finance business. The successful candidate will act as a key deputy to the Head of Compliance, providing leadership across the function, managing a small team and representing Compliance at senior governance forums. This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and executive committees, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional looking to step into a broader leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small team across compliance monitoring and advisory activities.
  • Own and enhance the compliance monitoring framework, including risk‑based monitoring plans and assurance reviews.
  • Provide pragmatic and commercially focused regulatory advice to the business.
  • Support the interpretation and implementation of regulatory change.
  • Present findings, regulatory developments and compliance insights to senior governance committees.
  • Deputise for the Head of Compliance when required.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Contribute to ongoing regulatory and conduct risk initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant experience within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong background in both Compliance Monitoring and Compliance Advisory.
  • Experience designing, managing or enhancing compliance monitoring programmes.
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulation, consumer finance and conduct risk frameworks.
  • Previous people management and leadership experience.
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders and executive audiences.
  • Commercially minded approach to compliance, with the ability to balance regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Experience within retail banking, consumer lending, motor finance or wider consumer credit environments would be advantageous.
