Barclay Simpson is partnering with a UK financial services institution to hire a senior model risk professional into a visible and growing Model Validation function. This is not a siloed “factory validation” role. It’s an opportunity to step into a deputy-level position, working closely with the Head of Validation and helping shape how validation and model risk management is delivered across the organisation.

Why this role?

  • Clear progression toward a deputy / leadership position
  • Broad exposure across IRB, IFRS 9, credit & operational risk models
  • Genuine influence over standards, tooling, and ways of working
  • High visibility with senior stakeholders and risk leadership
  • Python-based validation environment

What you’ll be doing

  • Overseeing and reviewing live model validations across retail and wholesale portfolios
  • Acting as a senior escalation point for technical and regulatory challenges
  • Engaging confidently with stakeholders to communicate findings and drive outcomes
  • Supporting and developing junior validators in a globally distributed team
  • Helping build and enhance validation tools, templates, and governance processes
  • Remaining hands-on where needed during peak submission periods

Who this suits

We’re open on background and encourage applications from:

  • Model Risk Validators
  • Model Developers with strong validation exposure
  • Risk / model consulting professionals (Big 4 or specialist firms)

You’ll likely be at Senior Manager / VP level, with strong UK regulatory knowledge, excellent communication skills, and an appetite for building rather than inheriting. Prior experience overseeing and reviewing the work of less experienced validators would be very attractive.

The setup

  • London (office based)
  • Python coding environment
  • Competitive total package
  • No visa sponsorship available for this role, sorry.
