Overview
In this role you will lead and embed the enterprise risk framework for a UK investment organisation, operating across strategy and detail in a lean risk function. You will interact with senior stakeholders and risk owners to provide independent oversight, drive risk improvement, and embed a proactive risk culture. The role offers breadth and autonomy to shape risk maturity while delivering tangible changes to risk processes and reporting. This is an influential position with exposure to boards and risk committees, focused on practical risk mitigation and governance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and embed the Enterprise Risk Management framework across the organisation
- Define and monitor risk appetite, KRIs, risk registers and governance structures
- Identify and assess strategic, operational, investment and emerging risks
- Conduct horizon-scanning and scenario analysis for emerging risks
- Develop and refine risk and control frameworks and ensure ongoing improvements
- Produce high-quality risk reporting and insights for senior management, Risk Committees and Boards
- Lead risk-event management, root-cause analysis and remediation actions
- Collaborate with risk owners and investment teams to implement practical mitigations
- Support improvements to the wider control environment and risk systems
- Provide constructive second-line challenge while building strong business relationships
- Foster a proactive, commercially relevant risk culture and ongoing risk capability development
Key requirements
- Broad Enterprise Risk Management experience in financial services, ideally in investment management, asset management, pensions or similar
- Experience operating in a second-line risk function with ability to challenge and partner with the business
- Proven track record in building/enhancing/embedding risk frameworks and improving risk maturity
- Experience across risk appetite, KRIs, risk registers, controls, emerging risk, incident management and senior risk reporting
- Familiarity with Enterprise Risk Management systems; Protecht experience is advantageous
- Willingness to work in a lean environment and take ownership for delivering work
- Ability to operate at both strategic and detail levels and influence senior decision-makers
