Senior Buyer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Buyer/Senior Buyer to support our procurement activities across a large-scale fresh water scheme. The successful candidate will provide market-competitive procurement solutions, ensuring best overall value for money while maintaining strong supply chain relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies from pre-construction to project delivery.
• Manage work-winning supply chain selection and construction-stage procurement.
• Support and drive procurement schedules, work package development, and supplier engagement.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, risk assessments, and contract negotiations.
• Ensure all procurement decisions align with sustainability goals and deliver overall best value for money.
• Lead supply chain events, tendering processes (e.g., Compete For), and supplier performance management.
• Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, risks, and opportunities.
• Continuously seek and assess new supply chain partners to meet project demands.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procurement policies.

Key Requirements

• Ideally procurement/buying experience within construction, engineering, or a similar industry.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability in procurement practices.
• Understanding of construction processes from pre-construction to project execution.
• Existing business network and strong relationships within the construction supply chain.
• Experience in running supply chain events and tendering processes (e.g., Compete For).
• Excellent knowledge of products, suppliers, and contracts within the construction sector.
• Strong negotiation skills with a focus on value-driven procurement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, MS Project).
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
