My client are seeking an experienced Project Buyer to join my clients procurement team on a 12-month contract with the potential for extension. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely sourcing, ordering, and delivery of both direct and indirect materials to meet production and business needs within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Send RFQs and raise Purchase Orders for both direct and indirect spend Expedite orders and chase Sales Order Acknowledgements Manage the Kanban system and ensure smooth material replenishment Obtain quotations for goods and services; support vendor selection and capability assessment Process requirements from order action and exceptions reports, escalating risks such as obsolescence or supply issues Ensure timely procurement of materials to meet production deadlines and proactively report risks Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to meet business demands Monitor and manage supplier performance, addressing failures and working on continuous improvement Maintain accurate and up-to-date Purchase Order data within the ERP system Coordinate the return of non-conforming materials and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken Collaborate closely with Engineering, QA, Production, and other departments Resolve invoice queries in a timely manner, escalating issues where necessary Ensure forecasted materials are received in the correct forecast period and exceptions are reported Provide weekly procurement reports in agreed formats Obtain COSHH data for materials to ensure safe handling procedures on receipt Skills & Experience Required: Good general standard of education including GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English Strong time management and prioritization skills Previous procurement experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is essential Understanding of manufacturing planning and materials management Familiarity with RoHS and COSHH regulations Minimum 3 years\’ experience within a highly regulated industry such as defence or aerospace Working knowledge of HMRC legislation relating to procurement, imports, and exports Desirable Qualifications: CIPS qualification or Business Studies diploma Methodical, detail-oriented, and well-organised approach to work High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry
