Our client is currently seeking an Assistant Management Accountant for a fixed-term contract. This role is to cover maternity leave and is expected to last around 16 months. The Assistant Management Accountant will provide key support to the finance team and the wider business, including monthly management accounts reporting, VAT reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:- Accounting for inventory, including WIP and relevant provisioning (warranty & ageing)
- Accounting for a range of balance sheet accounts, including prepayments & accruals
- Production and maintenance of month-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Processing of payroll accounting and managing the completion of annual P11D submissions
- Calculation and processing of general ledger journals
- Production and submission of quarterly VAT returns
- Analysis of administrative expenditure and partnering with budget holders to manage expenditure
- Assisting in procedure updates and maintaining procedure documentation
- Assisting in external and internal audits
- Ensuring relevant and timely financial information is made available to internal and external customers
- Identifying and implementing changes to improve the department's performance
- Performing other recurring and ad hoc duties as required
Essential:
- Experienced accountant with a proven track record of quickly adapting to new roles
- Minimum of three years' experience in a similar role or part-qualified
- Strong problem-solving abilities, both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent accounting skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage a varying workload
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Desirable:
- Experience working directly with external auditors, customers, suppliers, and government bodies (e.g., HMRC)
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with IFS accounting software
- Flexible working within core hours
