As a Peripatetic Head of Maintenance at a Barchester care home, you will travel across the region to ensure a clean and well‑maintained environment so residents feel at home and staff can perform their duties effectively. Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere is part of our commitment to delivering first‑class care and support.

You can expect plenty of variety as a Head of Maintenance. You will perform a range of tasks within the care home building, gardens and grounds – from fixing a leaky tap to planting new bulbs. You should be comfortable working alone, leading a team and supporting the General Manager with annual budget planning. Liaison with external contractors is required for projects beyond the team’s expertise.

As a Head of Maintenance, the wellbeing of residents is your top priority. You should have hands‑on experience in property maintenance, at least one trade skill and the ability to undertake a wide range of maintenance tasks. Reliability, flexibility and a full UK driving licence are essential. You should also have IT literacy and GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).
