The Barbican is a multidisciplinary international arts centre in the City of London. Across its theatres, concert halls, cinemas, galleries, business venues, public and community spaces, the Barbican showcases artists and performers from around the world, presenting hundreds of performances, events and exhibitions annually.
The Barbican Immersive creates exhibitions and experiences that launch at the Barbican and then tour internationally, exploring topics shaping society today with emerging technology and digital creativity.
Purpose of Post
The Barbican Immersive Producer will manage, develop and coordinate Barbican Immersive exhibitions, commissions and related events from initial project planning through production to delivery. The role includes project management of exhibitions, experiences and commissions on and off site, and supporting the development of exhibitions for touring nationally and internationally. The Producer will help ensure new projects are prepared for touring and will work with in-house and partner teams to deliver high-profile exhibitions and commissions, promoting the department to secure further contracts and projects.
Travel, weekend and evening work may be required in relation to the role.
Responsibilities
- Manage, develop and coordinate Barbican Immersive exhibitions, commissions and related events from planning through delivery.
- Project manage exhibitions, experiences and commissions on and off site, including touring preparation.
- Collaborate with front of house, operational teams, technical crews, partner organisations and administrative teams.
- Support the Head of Creative Programme and the Senior Producer to establish Barbican Immersive as a leading venue for exhibitions and commissions, locally and internationally.
- Promote the work of the department to partner organisations to secure further contracts and projects.
About Barbican Immersive
Barbican Immersive creates exhibitions and experiences that launch at the Barbican and tour internationally, addressing topics such as artificial intelligence and the climate emergency, using technology and digital creativity to place visitors at the centre of the experience. Previous exhibitions include Digital Revolution (2014), AI: More than Human (2019), Our Time on Earth (2022) and Feel the Sound (2025).
