It is essential that all applicants have worked in HR for a Bank in the UK for at least 3 years and therefore have experience of UK Employment Relations. Sponsorship will not be available for this position, therefore 3+ years on visa eligibility to work in UK is essential. Our Client is looking for a Banking Deputy Head of HR to join their small team on a permanent basis. This position is full time in office, 5 days per week. The successful candidate will support the Co-Head of HR in building up all aspects of the Human Resources function.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Monitor regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the banking industry applying developments as necessary to policies and practice.
  • Assist Co-Head of HR to develop and implement HR strategy and policies across all areas of the organization.
  • Assist Co-Head of HR to co-ordinate, implement and monitor all HR activities within the department and across the organization.
  • Provide Independent advice to Co-Head of HR in respect of all areas of HR local practice.
  • Provide recruitment advice to line management, conducting interviews, and inputting into selection decisions.
  • Provide advice on employment contract terms.
  • Build efficient working relationships with key recruitment providers to support resourcing staff.
  • Provide employee relations support to line managers on disciplinary matters including terminations (including redundancy, resignations, and compromise agreements) and dispute resolution.
  • Communicate and interpret HR policies and practices.
  • Take proper measures to monitor and engage morale and motivation.
  • Consider organization development and culture development issues making recommendations to Head of HR as appropriate.
  • Assist Co-Head of HR to propose and monitor the annual and longer-term HR Budgets in line with business strategy.
  • Keep up to date on regulatory and legal changes affecting the HR area.
  • Work on the implementation of the SMCR in the relevant areas.
  • Work on a regular RCSA attestation.
  • Implement and adhere to the requirements of GDPR.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level.
  • CIPD qualification is desirable.
  • Extensive HR Management experience within local banking industry.
  • Good knowledge of employee relations law and regulatory issues in local banking industry.
  • Have operated at a strategic level as a true commercial partner delivering proactive operational value in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and implementing projects and change initiatives.
