BaptistCare is seeking a dynamic Legal Counsel to join our new national Legal, Risk & Governance team.

About the Role

As Legal Counsel, you will work closely with the General Counsel and a passionate Legal, Risk & Governance Team. Your expertise will help guide BaptistCare through complex legal landscapes, ensuring our organisation remains a beacon of best practice, compliance, and care. You will provide in-house legal support, draft and negotiate agreements, interpret statutory and regulatory requirements, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver practical, commercially oriented advice. You’ll also support mergers and acquisitions, manage claims and disputes, respond to regulatory actions, and help maintain our suite of policies and procedures. Your role will extend to governance support, including company secretarial tasks, board management, and documentation. You will be a trusted advisor, a diligent researcher, and a champion for BaptistCare’s mission and values.

About you

  • A Law Degree and current Practising Certificate
  • 5+ years’ experience in human services/aged care/retirement living or planning/construction/property sectors
  • Advanced communication, negotiation, attention to detail, time management skills, and a collaborative spirit
  • Uphold integrity, demonstrating self-discipline, maintaining confidentiality, and genuine alignment to supporting the organisation’s values and mission
  • Additional qualifications in business or human services, and experience with board procedures, are highly regarded.
