Position Summary Performs patient care under the direction of the physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting. Work Location: Baptist Health Alabama Women\’s Specialists 2006 Brookwood Medical Center Dr. Suite 310 Birmingham, AL 35209 Near Brookwood Medical Center Responsibilities Essential Functions Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues. Participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities. Supports effective and professional communication with patients and family members. Works collaboratively with administrative and operations staff. Gathers patient data through interviews and observations. Assists patients and families with examination preparations. Assists the physician or APP during examinations and procedures. Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice. Provides routine treatments and administers approved medications. Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and education according to policies. Acts as a liaison for scheduling and provides scheduling information for tests or consultations. Processes calls professionally, using sound clinical judgment. Enters medication, laboratory, and imaging orders into the electronic system under provider guidance. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains safety practices and infection control standards. Maintains regular, punctual attendance per policies and regulations. Adheres to all policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Provides age-appropriate care and assesses data accordingly. Demonstrates awareness of legal, patient rights, and compliance issues. Uses supplies efficiently. Assists with reception, scheduling, and discharge as needed. Qualifications Education/Training High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of Medical Assistant training or at least one year of relevant work experience. Licensure/Certification Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
