This is a contract‑based hybrid role located in Glasgow City, with the flexibility to work remotely part of the time. We are looking for a Solution Architect who understands how enterprise platforms connect, scale, and evolve in real environments. This role focuses on designing end to end architecture across cloud platforms, integration layers, and enterprise applications including Pega. The architect will work across AWS and Azure environments, design integration patterns using messaging technologies such as JMS, and ensure applications are built on reliable, secure, and scalable architecture. A strong understanding of Pega platforms is important, but the role requires broader experience in cloud architecture, system integration, and enterprise data design. If you have designed cloud‑native architectures, led enterprise integrations, and worked with Pega‑based platforms as part of a larger ecosystem, this role will fit well.
Key Responsibilities- Lead architecture design for enterprise applications across cloud and platform environments including Pega.
- Define end to end solution architecture covering application, integration, data, and infrastructure layers.
- Design and guide cloud‑based architectures across AWS and Azure environments.
- Support modernization initiatives including cloud migration and platform transformation programs.
- Design integration frameworks using REST, SOAP, JMS, event‑driven patterns, and enterprise messaging systems.
- Ensure scalable, resilient, and secure architecture across distributed systems.
- Define data architecture and ensure proper database design, performance, and reliability.
- Work closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to align architecture with operational standards.
- Provide technical direction to engineering teams and conduct architecture and design reviews.
- Troubleshoot complex architectural challenges in production and guide long‑term fixes.
- Establish integration standards, architectural governance, and design best practices.
- 10+ years of experience in solution architecture or enterprise architecture roles.
- Strong experience designing distributed enterprise systems and large‑scale platforms.
- Ability to design architecture spanning application, integration, cloud, and data layers.
- Experience guiding development teams through complex architecture implementations.
- Hands‑on architecture experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience designing scalable cloud architectures, including high availability and disaster recovery.
- Understanding of containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with identity and security frameworks including OAuth2, SAML, and token‑based authentication.
- Strong experience designing integrations using REST and SOAP APIs.
- Hands‑on experience with messaging systems and asynchronous architectures using JMS.
- Experience designing event‑driven systems and enterprise integration patterns.
- Familiarity with API management platforms and enterprise integration tools.
- Experience working with ESB platforms is beneficial.
- Good understanding of Pega platform architecture and case management frameworks.
- Experience working with Pega‑based solutions as part of enterprise ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Pega integration capabilities and deployment models.
- Ability to align Pega architecture with broader enterprise platforms.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, schema design, and performance optimization.
- Experience designing data models and handling high‑volume transaction systems.
- Java background or strong understanding of JVM‑based enterprise platforms.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and service‑based systems.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear technical architecture.
- Strong collaboration skills across product, engineering, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Comfortable presenting architecture decisions to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring developers and guiding engineering teams through architecture implementation.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem solving.
- AWS Solution Architect Professional certifications.
