A typical day in the life of a Waiting Staff:

  • Greet guests warmly and professionally, ensuring they are seated comfortably and promptly attended to.
  • Take accurate food and drink orders using the hotel’s ordering system and relay them efficiently to the kitchen or bar.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Maintain excellent product knowledge of menus, daily specials, wine lists, and allergen information.
  • Ensure all tables are cleaned and reset quickly and efficiently for the next guests.
  • Handle guest queries or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the Restaurant Manager where needed.
  • Assist with the preparation, restocking, and cleaning of the restaurant or bar before, during, and after service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with health and safety and food safety regulations.
  • Support colleagues and contribute positively to team morale and the overall guest experience.
  • Attend team meetings and training as required to continually improve service and performance.

  • Holding a Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or above) is advantageous but not essential – training can be provided.
