A typical day in the life of a Maintenance Operative:

  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, swimming pool, fitness equipment.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance contractors to ensure longevity and reliability of equipment.
  • Address and resolve maintenance issues promptly, such as fixing leaks, electrical faults and equipment malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot problems and determine effective solutions, coordinating with external contractors for certain repairs when necessary.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and club policies.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments, reporting any hazards or non‑compliance issues to the Maintenance Manager/General Manager.
  • Ensure all areas of the club – gym floors, changing rooms and common areas – are clear, orderly and well‑maintained.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance role.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and good attention to detail.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending and being on your feet for extended periods.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driving licence and own vehicle.
  • Desirable: Diploma or vocational qualification in a related field, and knowledge and experience in plumbing and joinery.
  • Desirable: 17th Edition Electrical qualification or equivalent.
