Role Overview
The Financial Controller will play a key leadership role within the Group Finance function, responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strengthening controls, and supporting strategic decision-making across multiple entities within the Group. This role requires a commercially minded finance professional with strong technical expertise, capable of managing a multi-entity environment and driving continuous improvement in financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Control
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Parent and Group entities
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and relevant statutory requirements
- Lead the consolidation of Group accounts and ensure accuracy of intercompany reporting
- Manage year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors
- Maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures
- Management Accounting
- Deliver timely and accurate management accounts with insightful commentary
- Provide variance analysis and performance reporting versus budgets and forecasts
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
- Cashflow & Treasury
- Monitor Group cash flow and working capital performance
- Oversee banking relationships, funding arrangements, and cash forecasting
- Implement strategies to optimise liquidity and manage financial risk
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team across the Group
- Promote a high-performance culture and continuous professional development
- Ensure clear delegation, accountability, and succession planning
- Business Partnering
- Partner with senior management and operational teams to support decision-making
- Provide financial insight into strategic initiatives, investments, and cost-saving opportunities
- Support business growth, acquisitions, and integration activities where applicable
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with local regulations across UK and ROI
- Maintain strong internal control environment and risk management frameworks
- Support corporate governance processes and Board reporting
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting tools, and automation
- Ensure efficiency and scalability of finance processes across the Group
- Lead finance-related system implementations or upgrades
Key Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
- Strong experience in multi-entity/group accounting
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting standards (UK GAAP / IFRS)
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent Excel and financial systems skills
- Desirable
- Experience within property investment group structures
- Experience within manufacturing and construction
- Exposure to M&A, group restructuring, or international operations
