Our client is a leading international financial institution with a strong presence across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. They are looking for a Tax Director to lead the Europe and APAC tax function, overseeing compliance, reporting, accounting, and advisory across multiple jurisdictions. This is a senior, strategic role with responsibility for managing a small team, collaborating closely with business units, and ensuring tax matters support business strategy while maintaining full compliance with local laws and regulations. The role offers the opportunity to influence business decisions, manage tax risk, and work across a dynamic, global business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Europe and APAC tax function, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and reporting requirements.
- Oversee preparation, review, and sign-off of tax returns, statutory account disclosures, and tax accounting for multiple entities.
- Provide proactive tax advice to business units on transactions, products, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with external advisors and internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Regulatory teams) on complex tax matters.
- Develop and mentor team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and building a strong compliance culture.
- Engage with tax authorities on audits, enquiries, and risk assessments.
- Shape and influence business strategy through effective tax planning and risk management.
Qualifications / Experience:
- UK Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), ACA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK and international tax, including corporate planning, compliance, and reporting.
- Proven experience managing multi-jurisdictional tax matters (UK focused with management across EMEA and APAC).
- Hands-on, strategic thinker with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
