This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who combines technical understanding with commercial drive. You will be responsible not only for generating new business and managing key accounts, but also for developing the internal sales infrastructure — including CRM systems and client management workflows. Reporting directly to the company directors, you will shape how our sales operation runs and position the business for scalable, sustained growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a structured sales process, including CRM setup and pipeline tracking.
- Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities across relevant sectors (industrial, oil & gas, automation, HVAC, etc.).
- Interpret technical enquiries and work with the design/engineering team to produce accurate proposals and quotations.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and key decision-makers.
- Manage existing accounts and ensure repeat business through proactive support and follow-up.
- Prepare and present engineered solutions, proposals, and costings.
- Generate and manage leads, track progress, and report monthly KPIs to management.
- Produce marketing materials, case studies, and social media content to support growth activity.
- Provide market intelligence on competitors, pricing trends, and emerging opportunities.
Key Requirements
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in sales or business development within electrical installations, control systems, or automation.
- Proven ability to set up sales tools and processes — CRM and lead pipelines.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, ATEX standards, control panels, and PLC-based automation.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to price and present solutions effectively.
- Highly self-motivated, organised, and confident working independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience with control panel manufacturing, automation projects, hazardous area project or electrical contracting environments.
- Familiarity with CRM tools.
- Background in or knowledge of the energy, manufacturing, or HVAC sectors.
What We Offer
- Performance-based bonus or commission structure.
- Company vehicle.
- Pension contribution.
- Professional development and training opportunities.
- Opportunity to shape and lead the future of the company's sales function.
- Supportive leadership and autonomy to make your mark.
