Job Overview

We are looking for a Facilities Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all estate, premises, and facilities functions across our South Yorkshire Primary Cluster, which includes Bank End Primary Academy, High Hazels Academy, and Hunningley Primary Academy. The role ensures buildings and grounds are safe, compliant, well‑maintained, and conducive to high‑quality teaching and learning, while delivering best value and efficiency. This includes managing maintenance programmes, health & safety compliance, capital projects, contractor performance, and supporting sustainability initiatives and long‑term estate planning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for facilities across the cluster, ensuring alignment with the Trust’s educational objectives and statutory obligations.
  • Manage maintenance programmes and health & safety compliance for all schools.
  • Oversee capital projects, contractor performance, and long‑term estate planning.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and deliver value‑for‑money in all facilities operations.
  • Work closely with school leaders and the Executive Business Manager to ensure facilities services support staff and pupils.

Terms and Conditions of Employment

  • Location: You will be based at each school for 1 day a week, subject to change dependent on the needs of the schools.
  • Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 28 hours per week (normally 8 am – 3:30 pm with a 30‑minute unpaid break). Flexible or part‑time arrangements may be discussed.
  • Ill‑Health Pay: Policy allows a five‑year sliding qualification period, after which you will receive full pay for 50 working days and half pay for 50 working days.
  • Holidays: You will be working 43 weeks out of 52 but will be paid for 49.47 weeks to cover your holiday allocation, in addition to public holidays.
  • Pension Scheme: Eligible to be a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Death in Service: Entitlement to a lump‑sum payment to beneficiaries.
  • Private Healthcare Scheme: Option to join the Group’s chosen provider; costs may be deducted from salary. Family cover available at an additional charge.
