Overview
The Isle of Wight NHS Trust are searching for an experienced and passionate Band 6 Deputy Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to join their highly skilled team.
The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is an NHS trust which provides physical health, mental health and ambulance services for the Isle of Wight.
The trust is unique in being the only integrated acute, community, mental health and ambulance health care provider in England.
The Trust was established in April 2012 as the only fully integrated provider of health services to an isolated offshore population of 140,000.
The purpose of this role is to provide a high-quality standard of care for patients in an environment conducive to learning for all staff and to ensure that relationships and own behaviour is managed in line with the PCT competencies.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, documentation, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision.
All actions need to be in line with NMC codes and other statutory and organisational standards.
- Maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy at all times.
- Liaise with patients, relatives and multi-disciplinary team.
- Supervise unqualified staff and student nurses.
- Demonstrate a continued commitment to professional development.
- Maintain high standards of care in an environment, which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals.
Requirements
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration
- Evidence of relevant post basic study
- Able to demonstrate a proficient knowledge of Chemotherapy drugs and administration, side effects and actions to be taken in the event of an adverse reaction.
- Physically capable of performing the role and responsibilities expected of the post holder e. g. manual handling of patients
