An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated band 6 Midwife Practitioner to join the Women’s Health Maternity ward at Whittington Health Trust. Known for being one of the safest hospitals in England, Whittington Health provides expert care for more than 500,000 local people and is valued by its local community.

The post holder will provide total midwifery care for both high and low risk mothers under the direction of the Midwifery Team Leader (MTL). This will include the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of maternity care over a 24-hour period.

Requirements:

  • Registered Midwife currently registered to practice
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as RM
  • Mentorship and assessing or equivalent
  • Must be able to practice in all areas in accordance with the Midwives rules and code of conduct
  • Can practice autonomously in the acute and primary care setting
  • Able to prioritise workload appropriately
  • Ability to conduct relationships in such a way that conflict is minimized
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour and circumstances
  • Has advanced clinical skills including suturing, cannulation, maternal and neonatal resuscitation; confident in dealing with e.g. PPH, shoulder dystocia, eclamptic fits
  • Examination of newborns
  • Competent interpreting CTG and intermittent monitoring
