The Management Accountant will support the Finance Manager in delivering a comprehensive and professional financial management service to the Women’s Health Division. The role involves providing timely and accurate financial management information to budget holders, as well as assisting the Finance Analyst and Finance Manager in the preparation of divisional reports and variance analysis.

As a key financial partner, the Management Accountant will maintain a customer-focused approach by regularly engaging with budget holders, offering expert financial advice, guidance, and training on budgetary management, and ensuring that financial queries are resolved efficiently and effectively.

Main Duties include but are not limited to…

  • Generates and produces monthly budget statements and financial reports for the service area in accordance with the Trust agreed timetables and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Calculates appropriate internal recharges, accruals, prepayments, deferrals and adjustments, and actions these within the financial ledger. Ensures that all journals are generated and posted to comply with all prevailing financial recommendations and controls.
  • Validates Payroll entries to ensure that staff are coded against the correct cost centres and to correct errors as appropriate.
  • Produces ad-hoc reports and analysis as required and answers queries promptly and accurately, referring people when necessary.
  • Investigates variances on budgets and makes required budget or expenditure adjustments in accordance with established procedures and through engaging with budget holders.
  • Prepares requests for invoices to be raised and ensures income is recorded accurately.
  • Supports the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams in the resolution of complex queries.
  • Assists in the preparation of costings for proposed developments and project funding applications within agreed deadlines.
  • Assists in the setting of budgets for the service area and implements budget changes where required through monthly reporting processes.
  • Assists with the collation, evaluation and reporting of externally collected data.
  • Ensures that VAT is reclaimed through correct coding structures.

Essential Requirements

  • 9PM until 5PM schedule, Monday to Friday with some flexibility.
  • Full-time is desirable, but part-time would be considered.
  • Two years of experience within finance.
  • Educated to A-Level or equivalent.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft systems.
  • Actively studying for a CCAB qualification is desirable.
