St Bartholomew's Hospital (Barts)are searching for an experienced and passionate Advanced Cardiac Cath Lab Radiographer to join their highly skilled team.
Our group of hospitals provide a huge range of clinical services to people in east London and beyond.
We operate from four major hospital sites (The Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Whipps Cross and Newham) and a number of community locations, including Mile End hospital.

Job Purpose
The post holder will work as an Advanced Specialist Practitioner in the Cardiac Cath lab, where they will be an advocate for radiographer professional development and use their advanced knowledge to support specialist radiographer education and training.
They will provide high quality, effective Imaging services within Cardiology including Cath Lab Angiography (electrophysiology, pacing, structural, and coronary intervention), Cardiac CT, and Cardiac MRI (rotation weighted according to service requirements).
The post holder will work closely with Radiographers, students and clinical staff of all grades in providing safe, prompt and effective imaging.
The post holder will be a leader in cath lab radiography role expansion and responsible for the day to-day coordination of the radiography team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To undertake an advanced specialist Cardiac Cath Labs Radiographer role.
- To have undertaken advanced development/role extension/education in area of Cath lab specialty.
- The post holder will work to the highest standards and act as Practitioner for Cardiac radiography in accordance with Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations; IR(ME)R (2017).
A state registered Radiographer; the post holder will ensure that adequate training is delivered to all Radiographic staff.
- To perform a wide range of specialised radiographic procedures across a variety of complex clinical presentations and pathologies, to the highest of standards of patient care.
- To work adaptively and innovatively, and work with other members of the multi disciplinary team to implement improvements and development of the service.
- To operate a variety of Information technology systems to a high level, including the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) and ensure that all data inputs are accurately recorded in order to maintain the integrity of data for both patients and the service.
- To provide timely professional support to colleagues and other members of the multi disciplinary team.
- To deputise to the Operational Lead Radiographer (Cath Lab).
Requirements
- BSc or Diploma in Radiography
- HCPC State Registration
- Demonstrable evidence of expert cardiac cath lab radiographic experience
- Evidence of advanced knowledge in cardiac Cath Lab imaging/ procedure
- Experience of working with junior staff and students
- Portfolio of evidence of advanced professional development/training and education for cardiac cath lab radiography
- This may include post graduate specialist training equivalent to Master’s level Evidence that knowledge of cardiac cath lab imaging techniques is up to date
- Evidence of the ability to critically analyse cardiac radiography practice and role development/training potential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge in a range of Cardiac Cath Lab Imaging techniques and innovations. Demonstrate awareness of responsibility to and advocacy for patients
- Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt training and teaching styles in response to needs of the trainee
- Team player with enthusiasm for Cardiac Radiography, with the ability to engage staff at all levels
- PACS, RIS and CRS knowledge and experience.
- IT skills, with advanced levels of understanding of Microsoft office.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and have the ability to motivate others
- Ability to work under pressure whilst subject to interruption
