Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are searching for an enthusiastic and passionate Band 3 Assistant Ophthalmic Vision Science Practitioner to join their highly skilled and experienced team. Ophthalmic Imaging is a specialised form of Medical Photography. This imaging specialism is dedicated to the recording and treatment of many disorders of the eye, both common and rare. Moorfields Eye Hospital has had an Imaging Service since the late 1960s and to this day, Ophthalmic Imaging continues to provide a Gold Standard service across a broad range of clinical imaging techniques. Ophthalmic Imaging plays a critical role in supporting the main aim of Moorfields, to be the Centre of Excellence in Ophthalmic care. Our dedicated team of skilled Ophthalmic Vision Science practitioners hold a broad range of expertise in providing a comprehensive imaging service.
The OVS Assistant is part of a multiprofessional team. The role involves using a range of highly specialised technology and imaging equipment to take various images of the eyes and collect data such as eye pressures and visual fields data. OVS Assistants also support the patients with their needs, either directly or by escalating appropriately. This enables clinicians to make important decisions in the care and treatment of our patients. As an OVS Assistant you may be the first person a patient will see and therefore it is important to instil the Trust values within your everyday working practices. Our OVS Assistants are individuals with a real passion for providing high quality healthcare to patients. The role is the perfect position for those who want to make a real difference to other peopleβs lives.
Requirements
- GC/GCSE (or equivalent)
- Maths and English (Grade C or above)
- Willingness to complete level 2 healthcare apprenticeship
- Experience working in a NHS / private healthcare setting

- Topcon OCT Imaging
- Spectralis OCT
- Zeiss Visucam 224 Colour Fundus
- Zeiss Angio OCT
- Anterior Segment OCT
- Static Perimetry (Humphrey)

- Optos/Zeiss Clarus WF Imaging
- Pentacam
- Autofluorescence
