BNZ’s Procurement tīma (team) plays a critical role in identifying and negotiating third-party contracts on behalf of the bank. Outsourcing in the banking sector has seen a significant change in the past 5 years, with regulatory requirements being a key focus during and post supplier negotiations. We’re looking for experienced procurement professionals with strong attention to detail, preparing complex market engagements (e.g. RFx), the ability to negotiate complex contracts, adhere to regulated process and hold strong stakeholder and supplier relationships to join our tīma as a Procurement Partner.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We sat down with our Senior Manager Procurement, and they let us know the following about the tūranga (role).
- Tīma Culture and Environment: We are a collaborative tīma focused on being strategic partners to our internal stakeholders. We aim to deliver market leading negotiations that support our business to grow now and in the future. We do this by using a category management and technology business unit engagement model allowing you to be an expert in the area you manage. This also includes an opportunity for cross collaboration and cross skilling in other categories and business units / subject matters across the procurement tīma.
- Projects / Mahi: Joining our Procurement tīma, this tūranga will focus on developing and implementing strategies for key categories to support the direction of the BNZ Technology team. This is a major area of growth for our business with several large-scale market engagements planned in the next 6 to 12 months. You will need to hit the ground running and quickly build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
- Specific Skills Required: We’re looking for experienced technology procurement professionals who have the ability to engage easily with a range of stakeholders and influence outcomes collaboratively. You’ll bring:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a category manager (or equivalent) negotiating high value third party contracts or similar tūranga (ideally within a complex environment).
- Knowledge and understanding of the financial sector (preferred but not mandatory).
- Ability to establish and implement category strategies.
- Work in a highly regulated industry and comply with internal regulatory processes and procedures including government legislations under Banking Standard (BS) 11.
- Proven experience in leading and delivering market engagement (for example, RFP’s).
- Identify and deliver benefits by way of cost savings, cost avoidance and productivity improvements through strategic negotiations and delivery of category management.
- Skilled in sourcing and negotiating complex contracts.
- Ability to self-manage, meet deadlines and prioritise your workload.
- Experience in a corporate environment working on large scale projects and negotiations.
- Effectively manage key procurement portfolios within an organisation.
