As part of the 2nd Line of Defence, the Financial Crime Risk Team sets the Bank’s Financial Crime Risk Policies and Standards framework, is responsible for monitoring and oversight of compliance with policy requirements, providing subject matter expertise advice and guidance, and internal and external reporting obligations. In this important role, the Financial Crime Risk Manager will directly report to the Financial Crime Risk Director & MLRO (MLRO) and support the maturing and embedding of the UK Bank’s financial crime risk framework, liaising with key stakeholders, and providing advice and challenge to the 1st line of defense teams.

We are looking to hire a highly skilled AML Professional for our 2 Line Financial Crime team to support the client onboarding process by reviewing the AML and Compliance framework of prospective NBFI clients (Non‑Banking Financial Institutions & Supplier and Outsourcer servicers). The Onsite AML Analyst is responsible for overseeing all Anti‑Money Laundering activities at the client or operational site. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices. The position acts as the primary AML contact onsite, providing guidance, quality oversight, and escalation management to ensure that financial crime risks are properly identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyse client financial crime policies and procedures to identify gaps, risks, and required enhancements in preparation for onsite AML reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and key stakeholders to ensure all relevant information, context, and documentation is gathered prior to client visits.
  • Support the review of high‑risk clients, providing subject‑matter expertise and guidance on appropriate EDD and risk mitigation approaches.
  • Support the onsite AML reviews either at client premises or remotely via video conference engaging senior stakeholders and ensuring a professional, risk‑based assessment.
  • Draft, refine, and finalise comprehensive onsite review reports, ensuring high quality, clarity, accuracy, and timely delivery.
  • Ensure client onboarding, file‑review, and monitoring 1lod teams are fully updated on findings, risks, and required remediation actions.
  • Support the AML Manager in overseeing control issues across assigned business lines, providing robust challenge, validation, and assessment of mitigating actions.
  • Conduct quarterly risk assurance reviews on vendors and Low and Medium risk customers, documenting findings and escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Complete applications and documentation required by banking partners, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with partner expectations.
  • Act as digital assets AML subject matter expert providing clear guidance on evolving AML/CFT standards, FATF guidance, including travel rule regimes, and Vasp/PSP licensing requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Strong experience in Financial Crime regulation, guidance and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Understanding of different business segments and the associated financial crime risks.
  • Creative and forward thinking, striving to improve and find solutions through effective innovation and ability to manage project and programmes of work end to end.
  • Highly organised and structured with excellent written communications skills.
  • Skilful co‑ordination in working across a wide range of stakeholders both within and beyond the function.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify themes and trends from large volumes of data.
  • Strong Crypto‑assets or blockchain‑related AML controls experience.
