The Web Team is a busy, fast‑paced operational team made up of four Website Publishers and a Front‑End Developer. We are responsible for maintaining and updating the Bank’s website (www.bankofengland.co.uk), both proactively and in response to requests from across the organisation.

Role Purpose

This role is central to ensuring the Bank’s website remains accurate, timely, and engaging. As a Web Publisher, you will manage and publish high‑profile web content—including major news items, announcements, and key reports—while working closely with a range of internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Publish major content such as the Monetary Policy Report, Financial Stability Report, news releases, and speeches, ensuring accurate and timely releases.
  • Manage the team mailbox, reviewing and prioritising incoming requests, and coordinating with colleagues to ensure they are delivered efficiently.
  • Use the Sitecore Content Management System (CMS) daily to create, edit, structure, and publish website content.
  • Evaluate and improve web content, applying creative and critical thinking to ensure formats, layouts, and messaging are clear, engaging, and user‑focused.
  • Participate in the team rota, balancing operational publishing duties with time for personal development and project work.
  • Work collaboratively across Communications, including with Publications, Press Office, and the Content team, to plan campaigns and improve content quality.
  • Contribute to out‑of‑hours cover, forming part of a 24/7 rota for emergency or time‑critical updates (infrequent and scheduled in advance, with inconvenience payments provided).

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including experience managing a busy shared mailbox and prioritising competing requests.
  • Ability to work at pace, multi‑task, and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail, both in independent work and when reviewing others’ content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using a website CMS (preferably Sitecore).
  • Experience in content creation and/or content editing.
  • Confident communicator who can work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems independently.
  • Experience with analytics or creative tools (e.g., Google Analytics, CrazyEgg, Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Experience using email campaign software (e.g., Mailchimp).
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of web usability and accessibility best practices.

Additional Information

This is an operational role, working Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. Some flexibility is required, with occasional earlier starts or later finishes, particularly around major publications.

Salary and Benefits Information

The salary for this role is, London: £28,640 - £35,800 and Leeds: £25,760 - £32,200. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package.

National Security Vetting Process

Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
