As a PMO Manager you will be skilled and experienced in a wide variety of project delivery specialisms, and will support the Bank's portfolio, programmes and projects

You will work colleagues across Change Delivery, as well as a wide range of stakeholders and SMEs in different areas of the Bank.

You will play a crucial role in driving project success and contributing to the overall strategic goals of the organisation through the delivery of excellent PMO frameworks.

You will be required to hold colleagues at all levels to account for their part in delivery, and use data and analysis to back up any challenges you foresee or need to raise.

As a line manager within Change Delivery, you will coach and mentor your direct reports,

Primary Outcomes and Accountabilities

  • Leading governance processes, ensuring compliance with the delivery framework
  • Setting up and supervising portfolio or programme plans and facilitating planning workshops with partners
  • Proactively monitoring projects against time, cost and quality expectations, providing an early warning of any variances and exceptions to the Portfolio, Project or Programme Manager
  • Identifying peaks of work across projects and proposing solutions to resource contentions
  • Budget and cost management - producing accurate and timely forecasting and monitoring of actuals
  • Leading reporting processes for the portfolio or programme, setting out standards and defining reporting timetables to ensure provision of reliable and consistent management information
  • Planning, implementing and managing programme-level RAID (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies) and proactively proposing solutions where issues have been identified
  • Challenging constructively and assessing overall progress of programmes and projects by reviewing progress reports and other key management information
  • Coordinating lessons learned reviews when project phases are completed, capturing and proactively disseminating the information
  • Facilitating the approval processes through which projects are initiated and added to the portfolio
  • Reviewing business cases from a benefits perspective and advising on benefit identification, tracking and management
  • Establishing change control and configuration management processes that enforce to Bank standards
  • Resource management and on-boarding - Identifying and monitoring key performance indicators that may highlight capacity / capability constraints and over commitment of resources for particular areas
  • Internal and external stakeholder management across a diverse set of senior level leaders who may have opposing priorities
  • Supervising quality management arrangements

This is a people management role. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area's aims. This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. You will also be responsible for managing all staff-related matters that may arise including performance, absence and sickness.

Minimum Criteria

  • Project Management Office experience including Planning, RAID management, Governance, Reporting, Budget Management, Change Control etc
  • A proactive self-starter who is able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the programme and project managers, the wider team and partners of varying levels of seniority and external suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leaders and team members
  • Experience in risk management
  • Proven ability to analyse data and draw insights from it.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control and financial reporting.
  • Experience of management of effective governance, including the planning, post-meeting actions and follow up, and able to record accurate and concise minutes
  • Experience of producing high quality documentation, briefing papers, reports and presentations

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to challenge constructively whilst maintaining excellent working relationships within the programme community and with partners
  • Experience of working collaboratively across project and organisational boundaries to achieve shared goals
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching team members and wider PM team, including those more senior

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of developing PMO frameworks, processes and governance structure
  • Relevant certifications such as P3O, PRINCE2, Agile certifications, Lean

Salary and Benefits Information

We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.

This role offers a salary of

  • Leeds - £44,080 - £49,590
  • London - £48,960 - £55,080

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

  • Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
  • A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
  • An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
  • 26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
  • Private medical insurance and income protection.
