The Senior Business Analyst (BA) role sits within the Technology Directorate. Business Analysts enable the Bank to meet its objectives by working on technology change initiatives. As part of cross-functional teams and working closely with business colleagues, BAs elicit, analyse and create a shared understanding of requirements to enable successful implementation of change initiatives.

A day in the role
A typical day might start with the team’s stand-up for the current sprint, discussing workload and blockers. You may join from Leeds or London, or remotely as part of our hybrid model. You could refine requirements, run a stakeholder workshop to map processes and identify improvements, or produce analysis artefacts such as process flows or impact assessments. In the afternoon, you may attend a BA Community of Practice session and meet with developers and testers to ensure solutions meet business needs. You’ll update documentation and share outputs to provide clarity on next steps.
Role Requirements
- You have experience eliciting, analysing and managing complex business requirements, working on large-scale transformation projects, and using data and insight to influence decision-making and drive change.
- Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst on projects/programmes, analysing and managing business requirements.
- Ability to produce clear analysis artefacts such as process maps, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience facilitating workshops or stakeholder meetings to elicit requirements and validate solutions.
- Strong communication skills, engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in standard BA tools and methods (e.g., process modelling, gap analysis).
- Solid knowledge of project delivery and product management approaches (Agile and/or Waterfall).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting.
- Experience within banking or financial institutions delivering projects related to banking, insurance, supervision or regulatory data.
- Educated to degree level and/or holding a recognised BA qualification (e.g., BCS BA Diploma, IIBA CBAP) or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record as a BA on complex projects, ideally within financial or regulatory environments.
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle with practical knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall.
- Ability to conduct impact assessments for proposed changes, identifying risks and dependencies.
- Ability to coach and mentor colleagues on Agile principles.
- Skilled in developing and using operating models and business processes, including BPMN 2.0.
- Expertise in eliciting, analysing, communicating and documenting BA requirements using various techniques (e.g., process models, wireframes, use cases, data models).
- Experience producing high-quality outputs from high-level concepts to detailed specifications, including functional and technical artefacts.
- Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills, able to engage diverse groups and manage uncertainty.
- Strong problem-solving and influencing skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgement and escalate issues appropriately.
It would also be beneficial (but not necessary) to have some of the following:
- Awareness of business architecture principles and frameworks.
- Experience in data management, including data journeys, analysis, integration and migration.
- Experience in developing customer journeys and user research.
- Exposure to scaled Agile methodologies within Waterfall environments.
- Certification in delivery methods such as Agile or DevOps.
- Understanding of product and project management practices, including resource and time management.
- Operating at SFIA Level 4 for the SFIA v9 skills listed: Business Situation Analysis, Requirements Definition and Management, Business Modelling, Business Process Re-engineering, Stakeholder Relationship Management, Methods and Tool.

Salary and Benefits Information
Flexible working and part-time arrangements are encouraged. Part-time salary and benefits are pro-rated as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows and a comprehensive benefits package below:
- Non-contributory, career-average pension with options to adjust accrual rates; details vary by benefits package.
- Discretionary performance award based on current award pool.
- 8% benefits allowance with option to take as salary or for flexible benefits.
- 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days.
