The Bank of England, in partnership with Inspire People, is seeking a Lead Solution Architect – Data Analytics with strong enterprise and solution architecture experience, deep knowledge of cloud‑based data platforms, and a track record of delivering complex data and analytics solutions in highly regulated environments. Based in Leeds on a 21‑month FTC with a salary of up to £81,360 plus an 8% cash benefits allowance, annual bonus of up to 25% and a non‑contributory pension.

Shape the Future of Technology at the UK’s Central Bank. The Bank of England plays a critical role in maintaining the UK’s monetary and financial stability. Within the Technology Strategy & Architecture function for Data, Analytics and AI, this role provides architectural leadership across enterprise‑scale data and analytics platforms that support nationally critical services operating under high levels of security, regulation and scrutiny.

Responsibilities
  • Define and govern solution and enterprise architectures for data analytics platforms
  • Translate business strategies and requirements into target architectures, solution designs and technology roadmaps
  • Produce architectural artefacts including blueprints, technical options, design patterns and high‑level designs
  • Shape architectural decisions across complex initiatives and represent architecture at governance forums
  • Lead and develop a team of architects, supporting capability development and delivery
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across Technology and the wider Bank
  • Promote best practice across the data lifecycle, including data governance, quality, security and responsible use
Essential skills
  • Significant experience in IT architecture with a strong focus on data and analytics solutions
  • Proven experience designing and evolving enterprise‑scale data platforms
  • Deep expertise in cloud‑based data and analytics services on the Microsoft Azure platform (e.g. Azure Databricks, Azure ML)
  • Experience shaping proofs of concept and evolving designs into production solutions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including engagement with senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading and developing architecture teams
Desirable skills
  • Experience working with architecture frameworks and methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise data technologies, including lakehouse and medallion architectures, legacy data platforms and data engineering (ETL, ELT, CDC)
  • Experience working within large, complex or highly regulated organisations
