Job Description

We are looking for an experienced M365 Security Consultant to act as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Purview across the Bank as we mature our capabilities in this space. The role will focus on advising, designing and supporting the use of Purview and its component capabilities. The role holder will work with a high degree of autonomy, acting as a trusted security adviser to stakeholders across Technology, Cyber and the wider Bank. They will help translate policy, regulatory and risk requirements into effective M365 and Purview configurations and support the ongoing maturity of the Bank's M365 security controls.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a technical and advisory lead for Microsoft Purview Compliance across the organisation, including supporting security, compliance and governance use cases.
  • Designing, configuring and advising on Purview capabilities such as:
  • Audit and compliance logging
  • Communication Compliance
  • Information Protection and sensitivity labelling
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • Providing expert advice to business and technology teams on how M365 and Purview can be used to manage information risk, meet regulatory expectations and support investigations.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of security and compliance standards, patterns and guidance for M365 services.
  • Working closely with Digital Workplace, Legal, HR and Policy teams to ensure Purview configurations align with approved governance and operating models.
  • Contributing to threat, risk and control assessments relating to data protection, insider risk and M365 usage.
  • Keeping abreast of changes to Microsoft 365 and Purview capabilities and advising on their relevance and impact to the Bank.
  • Producing clear, high-quality documentation and briefings for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Role Requirements

    Minimum Criteria

    • Strong hands‑on experience working with Microsoft Purview Compliance in a complex enterprise environment, including configuration and support of Purview features such as DLP, Communications Compliance and Information Protection.
    • In‑depth understanding of M365 security, compliance and information protection concepts.
    • Ability to analyse security and information risk and provide clear, pragmatic advice to stakeholders.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non‑technical audiences.
    • Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a large organisation.

    Essential Criteria

    • Active interest in new technical concepts and/or technologies.
    • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Relevant certifications such as: MS Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200; SC-300; SC-400) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
    • Good judgement skills and experience advising up to, and including, 'C' suite staff.
    • Advanced qualifications in Cyber Security, Technology, Computer Science.

    Salary and Benefits Information

    We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro‑rated basis as appropriate. Leeds salary £72,320 - £81,360.

    Currently a non‑contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.

    A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.

    An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.

    26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.

    National Security Vetting Process

    Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
