We are seeking two enthusiastic Cloud Engineers to join our Cloud Operations team in Leeds, dedicated to managing and supporting the Bank's Azure cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will contribute to the day-to-day operation of our Cloud Platform, including resource management, proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and processing subscription requests, all within established change control procedures.
Your work will focus on supporting Kubernetes deployments, using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, and collaborating with colleagues through GitHub. We value diverse perspectives and collaborative teamwork. Experience with cloud automation and an understanding of networking in cloud environments are important for success. While you won't manage applications directly, you may assist teams with the cloud components of certain applications.
This role is open to flexible working patterns, including:

A typical day would start with the team's stand-up meeting for the current sprint or Kanban board where you'll discuss your workload and any blockers. You may have project work or operational duties and relevant meetings to attend, where you'll be modernising the Bank through the services you're responsible for. You will also draft and raise change requests, troubleshoot issues, and ensure our monitoring tools are functioning correctly. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and continuous service improvement will be key aspects of your role.
Minimum Criteria
We're looking for someone who has the following key skills and experience:
- Overnight (24/7) on-call L2/L3 support experience
- Experience of a Cloud Platform (Azure preferred) with use of monitoring tooling for troubleshooting
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tooling
Essential Criteria
We are interested in hearing from candidates who have the following capabilities:
- Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure in Azure, ensuring uptime and performance
- Support incident response and troubleshooting activities across cloud services
- Assist in maintaining Terraform modules (IaC) for infrastructure deployment and able to automate repetitive manual tasks
- Participate in DevOps tasks such as CI/CD pipeline maintenance and automation scripting
- Basic understanding of networking on Cloud (Azure preferred) beneficial
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement platform improvements
- Maintain documentation for operational procedures and configuration
- Support patching, backup, and disaster recovery processes
- Eagerness to learn and implement new learning
Desirable Criteria
It would also be beneficial, but not mandatory, to have some or all of the following:
- Experience with Agile ways of working
- Knowledge of ITIL framework
- Experience with Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, and Searching Intelligence
This role is part of the CTO Hosting Technical Services (HTS) domain which is responsible for selecting, delivering and continuously improving a portfolio of hosting services one of which is Cloud Platform. The Bank of England has made a foray into Cloud and have a number of exciting programs of work which will address technical and business challenges. Therefore, this role will be crucial in helping the Bank achieve its strategic objectives of Cloud over the multi-year programs.

Salary and Benefits Information: We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. Leeds circa £40,320 - £45,360. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package including:

- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase flexible benefits.
