Are you passionate about secure, resilient technology that underpins the UK economy? As a SWIFT Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting and evolving the Bank's Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system - a critical part of the UK's financial infrastructure! You'll work within a collaborative, agile team to deliver and support SWIFT messaging services.

A Day in the Role:

Reporting to a Technology Team Lead and working closely with colleagues, you will be responsible for delivery, support, maintenance and operation of the SWIFT AMH/Messaging Gateway components for the RTGS solution. You'll be involved in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, contributing to the delivery of new features and ensuring the tools and methodologies used by the team remain current.

Throughout the day, you'll monitor the Bank's live and UAT financial messaging systems, proactively resolving issues and ensuring performance is maintained. You'll provide technical troubleshooting during incidents, support out-of-hours operations (including Bank Holidays), and help maintain compliance with the Bank's security standards. You'll also coach and mentor junior engineers, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and support.

Role Requirements

The successful candidate should have extensive demonstrable experience with SWIFT applications. We're looking for someone who has the following key skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience configuring and supporting one or more of the following SWIFT products: Alliance Connect, Alliance Gateway, Alliance Web Platform, Alliance Messaging Hub, Transaction Delivery Agent, HSM
  • Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting in a live operational environment
  • Have a strong understanding of ISO 20022 industry messaging and end to end business flows
  • Demonstrable experience working as part of a team to deliver features across technical solutions, focused on SWIFT applications

We are interested in hearing from candidates who have the following capabilities:

  • Experience working in agile teams and participating in sprint ceremonies
  • Ability to deliver high-quality software components and documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to translate requirements into a low-level technical design
  • Experience supporting live and UAT environments
  • Commitment to adhering to security and operational standards

Salary and Benefits Information

We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

  • Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked.
  • A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
  • An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
  • 26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
  • Private medical insurance and income protection.

National Security Vetting Process

Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
