Risk Management department is responsible for developing, maintaining and promoting the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and activities, and for providing independent second line of defence (2LoD) oversight for Traded Market Risk, IRRBB & FX Risk, Operational Risk and Model Risk, Climate Risk and Strategic Risk management activities in the Bank. As an Assistant Vice President – ERM, Climate and Strategy Risk, you will be responsible for supporting the team by leading the Bank's 2LoD coverage of Climate Risk Management and Strategy Risk Management. This is a full time permanent role.
Responsibilities
- Act as Policy Owner and document, communicate and maintain the Climate Risk Management Policy and Strategy Risk Management Policy.
- Provide guidance, support and training to first line of defence (1LoD) for owning and managing climate risk and strategy risk. This includes engaging with 1LoD Control Owners and 1LoD Business Risk & Control Managers for designing and implementing appropriate 1LoD controls, and providing review and challenge of 1LoD controls.
- Track 1LoD implementation of Climate Risk Management Policy and Strategy Risk Management Policy; provide independent assurance to the Chief Risk Officer over 1LoD compliance with the Climate Risk Management Policy and Strategy Risk Management Policy.
- Propose range of risk metrics for monitoring and controlling climate risk and strategy risk; review and challenge limit levels proposed by 1LoD; calculate and present metrics for management reporting purposes.
- Identify and assess the Bank's top and emerging risks for climate risk management and strategy risk management.
- Opine and report on the 2LoD view of the Bank's risk profile for climate risk and strategy risk to UK executive and UK board risk committees; review and challenge the 1LoD view of its risk profile.
- Track changes in industry best practice for managing climate risk and strategy risk; promote continuous improvement in the Bank's risk management practices.
- Assess and opine on product risk, arising from climate risk and strategy risk perspectives, as part of 2LoD Expert Panel for product risk management.
- Engage and liaise with Head Office specifically for climate risk and strategy risk management matters, and more broadly on behalf of the team when required.
Requirements
- Degree educated in Business, Economics or relevant subject.
- Relevant professional qualification is a plus.
- Solid 2LoD risk management experience including managing risk policies, assessing risk controls, designing risk limits, review and challenge of 1LoD activities across one or more risk stripes.
- Prior experience working in 2LoD climate risk, strategy risk or credit risk management role would be beneficial.
- Good understanding of both the fundamentals of climate risk and strategy risk, and how climate risk management and strategy risk management integrate with enterprise risk management and the management of other risk types.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills; able to multi-task, work to tight deadlines and work in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to form effective relationships and to engage, collaborate and influence stakeholders.
