Operations Services department provides processing support for the front line business units handling trade finance, loan and cash management products. The department also includes Business Risk & Controls, Financial Crime Operations and Facilities Management. As an Associate - Operations Business Risk and Controls, you will play a critical role in supporting the Operational Risk Management program across the department. This is a full time permanent position.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute the first line of defence (1LoD)'s Operational Risk Management program including Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Key Risk Indicator (KRI), and Operational Risk Event (ORE) tracking in collaboration with operational support teams.
  • Analyse emerging risk trends, incidents, and OREs to identify underlying issues, assess impacts and establish appropriate remedial controls and solutions.
  • Maintain oversight of the department's risk profile by tracking and managing identified issues from all sources (e.g. Internal Audit), ensuring remediation actions are delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Conduct control testing and Quality Assurance (QA), assess the adequacy of RCSA controls, and report deficiencies, policy breaches and overdue actions.
  • Liaise with relevant teams to ensure customer cases are handled to the highest standard, complying with FCA and Treating Customers Fairly (TFC) principles.
  • Support new projects and initiatives, including preparing business requirements, coordinating tasks and taking responsibility for relevant system testing and implementation.
  • Provide support for daily operational tasks within the department, ensuring adherence to the Bank's procedures and the timely, accurate delivery of all team's duties.
  • Act as the operational risk coordinator liaison, promoting risk awareness and supporting the integration of the risk and control frameworks across the department.

Requirements

  • Degree educated in Finance, Economics, Accounting or other relevant subject.
  • Proven track record in Operational Risk and Controls management in Banking sector.
  • Solid understanding of operational risk, mitigating risk and control frameworks.
  • Understanding of corporate and retail banking products.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
