Overview
This role involves managing Corporate relationships, together with Relationship Managers, across the UK & Ireland requiring regular travel to facilitate client-facing meetings. This is a competitive and rapidly changing environment, requiring the job holder to constantly keep up to date with and understand the implications of economic, market and regulatory changes and developments.
Embracing a ‘one team culture’ whilst also managing individual performance, the job holder will coach and guide team members in sales effectiveness to create the most optimal results. Leading by example, the job holder will drive the development of new business opportunities, manage certain Corporate relationships, establish new to bank targets and ‘opening new doors’, ensuring effective and regular client contact, cross-selling other products and Bank ABC’s Group network.
What You Will Be Doing
- In collaboration with the Head of Wholesale Banking Europe, define and execute the Corporate Coverage strategy for UK & I, aligned with the Group Corporate strategy, annual budget and related KPIs.
- Proactively adopt and refine the UK & I Corporate Coverage strategy as necessary to ensure the Bank retains a competitive proposition and relevance in the market and operates a best market practice model.
- Provide input, guidance and recommendations to the Head of Wholesale Banking Europe and the Bank’s Executive Leadership Team as necessary, in respect of the performance and development of the UK & I Corporate Banking franchise, including identifying key challenges and opportunities, target markets/sectors and product expansion.
- Drive new-to-Bank client origination, deepen the Bank’s share of client wallet across the Client’s Value Chain through collaboration with the Bank’s European and Global network and product sales team to maximize cross/up-sell activities and work in close coordination with product sales to identify product improvement innovation/new products that are in line with customer needs and the Bank’s strategy, risk and return thresholds.
- Embrace the ‘One Bank One Group’ concept, actively facilitating cross border, cross client and cross product collaboration, to deliver a coordinated and seamless ‘One bank’ experience to the Corporate client.
- Set expectations, manage, monitor, coach and develop team members, providing support and guidance, to ensure that they maximize their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience.
- Drive a high-performance culture and sales effectiveness across the Corporate Relationship Management team, developing and implementing business development strategies, plans, tools and techniques, to focus origination and execution efforts targeting strategic clients and to deliver sustainable growth and profitability in line with the Bank’s required returns (RAROC) and other performance objectives.
Candidate Specification
- Excellent understanding of the Bank’s Wholesale Banking product suite offered to corporate clients, including, but not limited to Trade Finance, Transactional Banking (including Supply Chain Financing), Credit & Lending and Structured Finance.
- Strong track record of excellent customer relationship management skills across corporates.
- Excellent understanding of the UK & Ireland corporate banking market combined with a solid understanding and knowledge of the MENA markets.
- Established leadership skills required for inspiring a high performing team, implement change and engage with clients at all levels including Senior Executives of large and mid-cap corporates.
- International banking background.
- Successfully previously led an origination team, ideally in the UK, focusing on large and mid-cap corporates selling international banking products and solutions.
- Significant post qualification experience in international banking and/or corporate banking or related areas.
- Proven track record of originating, structuring and executing significant credit and trade transactions.
- Significant experience in senior business origination and management jobs in major leading banking institutions.
- Experience of managing multiple priorities in a challenging and changing environment.
- Successful proven track record of excellent client relationship management across global corporate organizations.
