Job Purpose
Banijay UK is expanding its in-house post-production capabilities through the newly formed department named B Post – supporting productions across a range of labels across the UK. As Senior Post-Production Technician, you will take ownership of post-production engineering, IT systems, and technical excellence within the London post-production team in addition to being hands-on within the edit support team. This role sits at the intersection of post-production workflows and IT infrastructure, with responsibility for ensuring that editorial, finishing, and delivery environments are stable, secure, well-maintained, and aligned with Banijay UK standards.
This position combines deep technical and IT ownership with a practical, hands-on approach to day-to-day post-production support. You will work directly with editors and production teams, providing edit support and troubleshooting within active productions, while also managing and maintaining the underlying post-production and IT infrastructure. This includes working with third-party specialists and collaborating closely with Banijay’s wider UK technical team to ensure consistency, resilience, and best practice across sites. As part of a small and growing team, the role involves broad remit across all aspects of a busy post-production environment.
Duties
- Engineering and IT
- Ensure delivery of all engineering and IT requirements, alongside third-party support teams.
- First line support for all offline and final post suites, on-site, hybrid and remote.
- Maintaining security requirements and responsibilities.
- Maintaining all client and staff Active Directory and 2FA accounts.
- Proactively explore technology innovations, working with the operational team to test and roll out.
- Conform, Online and Mastering
- Conform sequences from offline to online resolutions within Avid Media Composer & DaVinci Resolve.
- Prep and conform sequences for grading, ensuring correct XML/AAF relinking and media pipeline integrity.
- Create and check AS-11 DPP, ProRes and other broadcast master files, ensuring compliance with broadcast standards.
- Perform quality control (QC) checks on final deliverables, identifying and flagging potential audio, video, or metadata issues.
- Media Management & Ingest
- Ingest, organise, and manage rushes and project assets for editorial workflows.
- Link, transcode, and consolidate media to Avid Nexis via Avid Media Composer, ensuring correct codec, resolution, and metadata handling.
- Perform multicam grouping and syncing of footage when required.
- Maintain a clean and structured Avid project workflow, including consistent bin organisation and metadata tracking.
- Complete all production and post rushes ingest logs and key paperwork.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of IT technologies involved within a post environment (networking best practice, storage, cloud services, security…).
- Good knowledge of Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems.
- Proven experience of managing post-production workflows for offline and finishing, QC processes, and digital media management.
- Proficient in navigating and trouble-shooting industry-standard tools, including Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, ProTools.
- Ability to adhere to complex, fast-paced workflows while troubleshooting technical issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of archiving, nearline storage systems, and media asset management.
- A detail-oriented, proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to the wider Banijay UK success.
- Proven knowledge of cloud-based workflows is desirable, not essential.
- Experience supporting a Dolby Atmos audio suite is desirable, not essential.
