This is an exciting career move that will allow you to take ownership of high-end residential projects in the UK and abroad, to support the design direction and assist in leading junior members of the design team. You will have a positive and professional attitude at all times towards clients, suppliers and the wider design team. You will have a meticulous eye for design and detail, evident in your well put together portfolio and the ability to collate and understand the overall project scope, budget, programme and deliverables across all RIBA Stages (0-6) together with a thorough understanding of working to deadlines and delivering exceptional results. Awareness of preparing fee proposals is an advantage but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare working brief/client requirements and concept designs with Directors
  • Commission external surveys where required (assist project manager if applicable)
  • Presenting with confidence to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and oversee spatial planning and schematic design schemes
  • Work with architect (executive or other) to understand roadmap to achieve necessary consents
  • Prepare and oversee design development presentations and documentation
  • Prepare and oversee tender documentation packages (independently if required) including drawings, details, schedules and specifications
  • Liaise and oversee wider design team including engineering services, specialist sub consultants and suppliers as required
  • Liaise with clients to effectively communicate project brief, deliverables and expectations on a regular basis, both day-to-day and at formal work stages
  • Assist in leading junior and mid-weight designers and interior architects through key RIBA Stages
  • Liaise with suppliers and consultants to review and approve shop drawings (including sample sign off)
  • Visit site for inspections at key intervals and demonstrate ability to problem solve as and when queries arise
  • Liaise, by way of the main point of contact, with contractors on site to answer formal requests for information (RFI's) as well as record and/or sign-off design variations
  • Report in a pro-active manner to the Project Leader on project progress, including raising potential client or project issues as and when they arise
  • Assist design directors and contribute to preparing fee proposals by estimating timescale and studio resourcing

About you

You will have previous experience of working within a collaborative, creative and resourceful team and demonstrate project running skills. You will have specialised experience in the design and construction of architecture/interior design and FF&E high-end private residential, development and/or hospitality projects. You will be able to demonstrate 5+ years’ experience working in the Interior Design and/or Architecture industry. Hold a Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Interior Architecture or Architecture. AutoCAD skills are essential. You must be capable of independently documenting work to RIBA Stage 4+; skills an advantage. High end residential, development or hospitality experience is highly regarded. Ability to ideate, create and push design boundaries to contribute to Banda’s design excellence and innovation. Ability to take the project through all stages of documentation either independently or leading the wider team. Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge and ability to develop design drawings into detailed work packages that show a high level of awareness of architectural detailing and joinery detailing, together with buildability and budget in mind at all times. Be capable of designing and detailing key architectural components of the interior. Experience on site is essential, liaising with project manager, contractor, client and wider design team. Ability and confidence in dealing with suppliers and consultants. Thorough understanding of UK building regulations and standards relevant to the project/role. Excellent understanding of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop; SketchUp, Rhino, Revit and 3D Studio Max or other 3D modelling skills are an advantage. Exceptional understanding of suppliers, materials, fabrics, sanitaryware, lighting and ironmongery specifications. Ability to assist with the selection of key FF&E items and demonstrate how they relate to the interior, work to deadlines (often on projects simultaneously). Ability to collaborate with a team of Interior Architects, Designers and FFE designers. Understanding of cost and assisting Directors to help deliver exceptional results within the architectural, ID and FF&E budgetary framework set out by the client or stakeholder(s).
