Santander UK within Chief Payments Office function within Retail and Business Banking is looking for a Programme Manager based out of Unity Place in Milton Keynes or Triton Square in London. This role is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
As a Senior Change Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading large-scale, multi-disciplinary programmes and complex projects that shape the future of how we deliver for our customers. This senior, hands-on role goes beyond coordination — it’s about inspiring teams, influencing strategy, and delivering meaningful transformation that drives shareholder value and business growth.
You’ll take full accountability for end-to-end change delivery, often operating across Transformation and Technology in a hybrid capacity, within the Chief Payments Office function under the Head of Transformation and Change. You’ll ensure every programme is aligned to our evolving business strategy and that benefits are realised and sustained well beyond implementation.
In this role, you’ll bring together people, technology, and strategy, defining the full scope and scale of each programme, shaping outcomes that improve customer experience, drive efficiency, and enable innovation. You’ll manage the procurement of services, oversee supplier and vendor relationships, and ensure the right capabilities are in place for success.
As a trusted partner to senior leadership, you’ll present insights and recommendations at Director level, championing innovative and sometimes radical change that delivers measurable business improvement, cultural evolution, and policy enhancement. You’ll continuously monitor programme progress, costs, and benefits realisation through robust governance and transparent communication — ensuring risks are identified early, decisions are informed, and delivery stays on track.

To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
- E2E accountability of change delivery for a Business outcome of combination of outcomes or a complex Project / Programme construct
- Good hands on exposure on Group governance methodologies and agile experience is a plus but not must have
- Co-ordinate between multiple areas of Business on requirements / dependencies to feed into a single design / plan
- Hands on in managing plans / ORA / stakeholder communication and management of exceptions on plans including alignment to Service and risk functions
- Management of third party deliverables, in this case keeping a constant eye on quality and quantity of deliverables from third party entities.
- Be able to trace the plans back to roadmaps and strategic OKR’S
- Albeit not must have, experience on multi-channel delivery (ODS/ Assisted channels), Payments backend integrations, Payments knowledge widely will be desirable but not a must have.

Delivery / Technical Knowledge (Required):
- Proven track record in change management/PMO/project management role with strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices, including business case development, finance management, delivery planning, stakeholder mapping and communication plans including thorough understanding of agile delivery practices.
- Proven track record on the successful management and mitigation of risks and issues associated to project/programme implementation. Robust knowledge of IT infrastructure, Business changes and implications of changes made by the programme.
- Experience preparing and delivering reports and presentations to stakeholders including customers and management regarding project status, results and recommendations.
- Experience determining full scale and scope of the programme and the impact that delivery will have on the business.
Managerial Knowledge (Required):
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - persuades and influences others, using a range of approaches, to achieve deliverables.
- Ability to manage large sized multi-disciplined or highly technical teams often through others and where there is no line management.
- Prepares accurate reports and delivers presentations at Director level regarding programme status, results and recommendations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to define, shape and develop project requirements and associated solutions with stakeholders, drawing on appropriate specialist expertise to create robust solutions.
- Ability to influence strategy at divisional level, identified as a leader who continuously seeks to promote quality to stakeholders.
- Controls the project in terms of cost, time, quality and benefits; ensuring the project business case is delivered.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Knowledge of agile and waterfall delivery methodologies required.
- MSP, PMP, PRINCE 2 practitioner, agile or external PMO certification are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Degree level education in relevant subject is desirable.

Salary Range: £71,862.00 - £107,794.00 per annum (depending on experience). This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5 years service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
£6,000 car allowance per year.
