Global Debt Advisory is a team within Global Banking that develops solutions relevant to Santander clients in the areas of financial strategy and credit ratings. Financial Strategy Advisory aims to help clients evaluate strategic financing topics such as determining optimal capital structure choice, funding optimisation strategy, formulating financial policies and debt capacity in the context of strategic goals, etc. Rating Advisory assists clients in managing credit ratings and relationships with the major rating agencies. This includes among other things obtaining first-time ratings, assessing ideal rating agency relationships, advising on potential rating implications of corporate events and/or methodology changes and formulation of financial policies.
The difference you’ll make:
- Improving client relationships with financial institutions and contributing to enhancing strategic dialogue with financial institutions in the areas of credit ratings and capital structure issues
- Supporting with credit rating assessments for rated and unrated banks, insurers and NBFIs clients (and other segments as required) based on S&P, Moody’s and Fitch rating methodologies
- Interacting with other CIB product teams to help design financing solutions for clients
- Preparing and presenting rating and capital structure material at client pitches

- Previous credit rating analysis experience acquired from working at one of the main three credit rating agencies or from a rating advisory role within a major investment bank
- Degree, or equivalent, in a numerical discipline
- CISI – Corporate Finance Module (to be obtained during first 6 months)
- CISI – Regulatory Module (to be obtained during first 6 months)
- Analytical background; proficient use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in small ad-hoc teams drawn from different functions and across geographic locations in Europe, North America and LatAm
It would also be nice for you to have:
- Familiarity of capital market and treasury products
- Other linguistic capabilities

- Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
