Job Purpose

This role primarily involves establishing the Treasury-related framework that manages risks exposed in Treasury, setting Treasury strategy that supports through economic cycles, and managing core treasury activities including treasury planning, debt issuance and management of liquidity.

Key Accountabilities

  • General strategic: Working with the Chief Finance Officer and Finance Director, lead the planning and development of HCUK’s treasury-related strategy with specific focus on:
    • Define, coordinate & implement treasury strategy including oversight of HCUK’s capital structure
    • Funding strategy
    • Liquidity and financial risk management
    • Treasury controls relating to company policies and regulatory requirements (ex. Leverage guidance)
    • Treasury deals and operations
  • Manage key treasury-related matters, including:
    • Ensuring appropriate liquidity is maintained
    • Debt capital markets and all types of funding (e.g. Bank loan, Securitization)
    • Treasury-related risk management
  • Treasury planning and budgeting: Provide effective planning and forecasting which includes:
    • Managing an annual treasury plan outlining timings and high-level funding plan deliverables based on the strategic goals with senior management and delivering the plan in line with the prescribed timings
    • Developing treasury-related forecasts and analysing the impact of financial markets on the performance of the company
  • Review and Validation: Responsible for review and validation activity, with specific focus on:
    • Managing funding structure & mix
    • Review of actual Treasury performance versus budget
    • Monitoring liquidity risks
    • Managing hedge positions
    • Validating monthly treasury closing relating to Cost of Funds
  • Reporting: Responsible for treasury management reporting, including:
    • Regular reporting to shareholders which includes the monthly treasury dashboards for circulation to HCS and Hyundai Motor Group
    • Key reporting areas relate to 6M coverage, Asset Liability Management (ALM) Index, Self-funding ratio, Capital ratio / Debt leverage
    • Early Warning Indicators / Stress Testing / Contingency Plan
    • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of Investor reporting
    • Other ad-hoc reports requested from the company or shareholders
  • Committee: Lead the preparation of committee materials and support the Chief Finance Officer, Finance Director and other senior management in managing treasury matters through Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO).
  • People Development: Set clear objectives for direct reports and support effective performance management. Ensure direct reports have appropriate training and support to carry out their roles effectively. Encourage learning and create opportunities for professional development.
  • Risk and Compliance: In line with the company’s risk and compliance statement of responsibility and objectives, identify and assess risks, incidents and breaches. Identify opportunities and provide suggestions within area of influence. Promote and embed risk and compliance awareness across the team. Ensure related actions are progressed within agreed timescales. Under the FCA’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR), the Head of Treasury role is allocated as a Certified Person.
  • Responsible use of AI: Use approved AI tools confidently and effectively within the scope of the role and promote the responsible use of AI within your area of influence. Maintain and develop enhanced AI competency relevant to the role, support colleagues to understand appropriate AI use, and ensure team members have the required awareness, capability and guidance to use AI safely, ethically and in line with company policies, data protection requirements, risk and compliance obligations, and any applicable guidance. Identify opportunities to use AI to improve quality, efficiency and decision-making, ensuring appropriate human oversight and accountability are maintained.

Required Experience and Expertise

Given the scope of this position within an FCA regulated environment, the Certified Person’s status, combined with the related responsibilities, it is essential that the job holder has the following experience:

  • Experience leading a Treasury team including: securitisation issuances, bond issuances, ALM, treasury planning, contingency funding planning, cost of funds management
  • Sound and relevant experience within financial services
  • Strong knowledge and relevant professional experience in debt capital markets and relevant regulations
  • Experience in building, developing and maintaining effective internal and external partnerships and stakeholders
  • Ability to build financial models and apply relevant Treasury knowledge
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg
  • Understands the customer landscape and promotes treating customers fairly principles
  • Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which HCUK operates
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
  • Able to take a long-term view and identify future opportunities and scenarios
  • Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel, and proven ability to produce high quality, accurate working documentation and presentations, including business case proposals and requirements, briefs and presentations
  • Relevant Treasury/Accountancy related qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA, CFA) or demonstrable equivalent treasury experience
  • Relevant degree (e.g. Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.), or demonstrable equivalent treasury experience
  • Experience in the automotive finance industry preferred

Other Information

HCUK supports hybrid working [mixture of home / office]. The usual place of work for this position is at HCUK’s head office in Reigate, Surrey. A minimum of two office days per week is required. Some international as well as domestic travel may be necessary from time to time.

Remuneration Package

  • £90,000 to £110,000 dependent on experience and expertise
