What you'll do

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the payments ecosystem — from acquiring and issuing to open banking and digital wallets — and will play a key role in shaping PagoNxt’s commercial strategy and market expansion.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities across the payments value chain (acquiring, issuing, merchant services, open banking, cross-border, etc.).
  • Design and execute go-to-market and growth strategies to expand PagoNxt’s presence in target markets.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with fintechs, banks, merchants, and technology providers to enhance the company’s value proposition.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, finance, and operations teams to align business initiatives with customer and market needs.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to understand trends, customer behavior, and regulatory developments in digital payments.
  • Develop business cases, financial models, and commercial proposals to support new ventures and revenue streams.
  • Represent PagoNxt externally at industry events, conferences, and meetings with key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree or Master’s in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in business development, partnerships, or strategic sales within fintech, banking, or payments industries.
  • Strong understanding of payment systems, including acquiring, issuing, processing, instant payments, and open banking.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to translate insights into actionable business plans.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage complex partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent English (C1 or higher); Spanish or other European languages are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cross-border payments, embedded finance, or merchant acquiring.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as APIs, AI, and blockchain in payments.
  • Background in both corporate and startup/scale-up environments.
