The Corporate Governance Office provides high quality governance support to the Santander UK Board, other governance bodies and subsidiaries and the business.

This role is on a fixed term contract for 12 months. Providing high quality governance support to Santander UK governance bodies and the business, you’ll use a variety of skills including regulatory and statutory compliance, ensuring governance best practices are applied throughout the Santander UK group. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining and promoting high standards of governance.

To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing high quality governance advisory support to the Santander UK governance bodies/subsidiaries and the business as required.
  • Advising on corporate and internal governance, including the Listing rules, DTRs, MAR, UK Corporate Governance Code.
  • Contributing to the annual report and financial statements programme as well as new business and legislative developments/projects.
  • Working with senior management, Board members and colleagues across the business and the wider Santander Group as well as learning about governance and the business across the Santander Group.

The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for success in this role.

Professional experience:
  • Qualified as a Chartered Secretary, Lawyer, relevant professional qualification or possess a relevant level and length of work experience (Required)
  • Extensive company secretarial corporate governance experience gained within listed company or within a financial service company (Required)
  • Good working knowledge of key sections of Companies Act 2006, the Corporate Governance Code, PRA/FCA governance (Preferred)
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, ideally financial services (Preferred)
  • Effective organisational, planning, and time management skills, with meticulous attention to detail (Preferred)
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to present to senior executives and board members (Preferred)
Education:
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline (Preferred)
  • Qualified member of a recognised professional body (e.g., CGI or equivalent) (Preferred)
Language:
  • English (Required)
