What you will do in your day to day…
We are looking for a Risk & Compliance Officer in London, responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework and Compliance Framework within Banco Sabadell, London Branch.
The role will support the Branch in meeting its regulatory obligations across risk management, operational resilience, AML and Financial Crime, ensuring effective internal controls, data integrity and alignment with UK regulatory expectations from the FCA and PRA.
The position offers broad exposure across the business, with regular interaction with local stakeholders and Group teams.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Support the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework, ensuring alignment with recognised standards such as ISO 31000 and COSO frameworks.
- Maintain and oversee key risk management tools, including Risk Registers, Incident Registers, Risk & Control Matrices and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), ensuring accurate assessment, monitoring and reporting of risk exposures.
- Perform second line of defence controls, ensuring appropriate documentation, evidence and consistency with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
- Support the coordination of Risk Committees, including preparation of materials, reporting of risk exposures and follow‑up of agreed actions.
- Contribute to the development, review and monitoring of policies, procedures and internal control frameworks.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the Operational Resilience Framework in line with PRA SS1/21 and FCA requirements.
- Assist in the identification and mapping of Important Business Services (IBSs), Business Impact Assessments (BIAs), impact tolerances and recovery objectives.
- Support scenario testing activities and monitor remediation actions arising from resilience reviews and regulatory expectations.
- Execute Financial Crime and Compliance controls, including AML reviews, transaction screening, alert management, KYC, CDD and EDD processes.
- Provide support to business areas on client onboarding, documentation reviews, risk classification and escalation of higher‑risk cases.
- Contribute to regulatory change management activities, including regulatory analysis, gap assessments and tracking of remediation plans.
- Support Compliance Monitoring activities, regulatory reporting and the preparation of Compliance Committees documentation.
- Collect, analyse and interpret data from multiple sources to provide meaningful insights into risk and compliance exposures.
- Develop reporting and data visualisation solutions using tools such as Power BI, leveraging emerging technologies where appropriate to improve analysis and reporting capabilities.
What we value…
- Degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline.
- Fluent English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Previous experience in Risk Management, Operational Risk, Compliance, Operational Resilience or Financial Crime within a regulated financial environment.
- Solid understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, including FCA and PRA expectations.
- Practical experience with Enterprise Risk Management frameworks, internal controls, risk assessments, Risk & Control Matrices and Key Risk Indicators.
- Knowledge of Operational Resilience requirements, including Important Business Services, Business Impact Assessments and scenario testing.
- Experience with AML, KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and Financial Crime controls.
- Strong analytical and data management skills, with experience collecting, validating and interpreting data from multiple sources.
- Working knowledge of tools such as Power BI and data visualisation techniques is highly valued.
- Experience supporting process improvements and implementing more effective and scalable risk and compliance processes.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence outcomes across different business areas.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and proactive professional, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.
- Industry‑recognised qualifications such as ICA, CISI, ACAMS or IRM are desirable but not essential.
