You will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of MSK presentations within the Primary Care Network, for Bampton Medical Practice.

As an Advanced Practitioner, you will help reduce GP workload through autonomous practice, clinical triage, management planning, patient education and appropriate referral, aligned with Practice priorities.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Practice: Undertake comprehensive advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with MSK conditions. Provide evidence based treatment plans including exercise prescription, hands on therapy where appropriate, education and self management strategies. Identify red flags and serious pathology, promptly referring to GP or secondary care. Order and interpret diagnostic investigations within scope (e.g. Xray, MRI, ultrasound). Manage complex patients, exercising advanced clinical reasoning and autonomous decision making.

Patient Management: Act as a first point of contact for MSK issues, providing timely and effective care. Develop personalised care plans and explain conditions in a patient centred manner. Ensure high-quality consultation notes into patients records.

Collaboration and Multi-disciplinary Work: Work collaboratively with GPs, the wider practice team to optimise care pathways. Provide specialist advice to colleagues and contribute to MDT discussions.

Service Development & Governance: Participate in quality improvement, audit, clinical governance and service evaluation. Support development and implementation of protocols, pathways and best practice guidelines.

Compliance & Standards: Adhere to HCPC and CSP professional standards, practice/PCN policies and national clinical guidance.

We are a Practice of 9000 patients in Bampton, West Oxfordshire. We serve the community of Bampton and surrounding villages. Approx 1/3 of our patients are in the nearby town of Carterton, where we have a branch surgery to serve the local community. We are in a beautiful location, nestled between the Cotswolds to the west and Oxford to the east.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • BSc / Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Registered with HCPC
  • HEE Advanced Practice capability training
  • Injection therapy qualification
  • Advanced autonomous assessment and clinical reasoning
  • MSc / PgCert in Advanced Practice
  • Experience teaching/supervising clinical staff

Experience

  • Significant experience in MSK assessment and management
  • Experience in Primary Care, PCN or First Contact Physio roles

Other

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to work independentlyExperienced with EMIS clinical system
  • Experience presenting at clinical meetings or audit
  • Leadership in service improvement
