Our client, a well-established structural steel fabrication company based in Walkden, is looking to appoint an experienced Fabrication Workshop Supervisor to lead and manage a busy workshop operation. This role is ideal for a hands-on Fabrication Supervisor / Workshop Manager / Senior Fabricator Welder with proven experience in structural steel, MIG & TIG welding, and workshop supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily workshop operations within a structural steel fabrication environment
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of fabricators and welders
- Read and interpret engineering and structural steel drawings
- Receive manufacturing packages from Contracts Manager / Estimator
- Produce cutting lists and manage material ordering
- Plan workloads, allocate jobs, and monitor production progress
- Carry out hands-on MIG and TIG welding as required
- Ensure fabrication work meets exact specifications and quality standards
- Maintain accurate production records and work to ISO quality standards
- Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations and PPE usage
- Maintain workshop housekeeping, equipment, and machinery
- Communicate production delays, quality issues, or safety concerns
- Support continuous improvement within the workshop
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Fabrication Supervisor / Workshop Supervisor
- Strong background in structural steel fabrication
- Proven experience with MIG and TIG welding
- Experience managing workshop teams in an engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety in fabrication workshops
- Experience working to tight deadlines and solving production issues
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Hands-on, practical, and detail-focused approach
