Production Engineer Role

Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, you will provide technical support across all areas of production, ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, cost-effective, and delivered to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain manufacturing process specifications
  • Develop and manage routings, BOMs, production orders, and costings
  • Support manufacturing operations with technical expertise and problem-solving
  • Optimise production processes to improve efficiency, capability, and yield
  • Utilise CAD software, including SolidWorks, for engineering and manufacturing support
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and other stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times

What We Want

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Production Engineer who can work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a Production Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Experience within a medium to heavy engineering environment
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, including:
    • 4 and 5-axis machining
    • CNC lathes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
  • Experience creating BOMs, routings, and manufacturing documentation
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, ideally SAP
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of hard surface welding methods
  • Experience preparing manufacturing costings
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience

Qualifications

  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent machining-based qualification
  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or similar discipline preferred
