Our large client, a well-established manufacturing business in Rochdale is seeking an experienced Industrial Buyer to join their Purchasing team. This is a hands-on, key role supporting the central purchasing function, ensuring materials and supplies are delivered to the correct specification, quantity, and price to meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices, quality, and stock levels
- Manage supplier performance and ensure KPIs are met and improved
- Oversee Purchase Order system (MRP) and associated ordering processes
- Collaborate with other departments to evaluate goods and services
- Resolve supplier discrepancies with Accounts and take corrective action where necessary
- Review supplier value to maintain competitiveness
- Provide cover for the Senior Buyer when required
About You
- 5+ years buying/procurement experience, including 3+ years in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience working in an MRP environment (EFACS experience advantageous)
- Strong track record of negotiating with large/global suppliers
- Educated to A-Level or degree standard; CIPS Level 4 Diploma or working towards MCIPS
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office) and full UK driving licence
- Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills
